Greetings from the High Seas!

Earth & Atmospheric Sciences faculty member Will Sager, along with a group of UH graduate students, spent 48 days aboard the R/V Nathaniel B Palmer studying the Rio Grande Rise oceanic rise in the Atlantic Ocean offshore of Brazil and Uruguay.

Day of Discovery: Encourages STEM Interests

Hightower High School students learned about superconductivity’s role in cities of the future while participating in NSM’s Day of Discovery STEM outreach program. The program offers middle and high school student groups the opportunity to spend a half day on campus seeing several NSM-based STEM demonstrations and talking with a panel of NSM students to learn more about applying for college, NSM majors and student life at UH.

Finals Frenzy: We Need Coffee!

With finals approaching, sometimes you just need a little coffee and kindness. NSM Student Leadership Team gave out wellness bags, t-shirts, and coffee in the SR1 lobby to help ease the pain of the finals season.

Calling All Prospective Graduate Students

All NSM departments participated in the UH Grad Fair. With new recruiting materials in hand, current grad students, faculty and staff met with UH students hoping to pursue graduate degrees through NSM.

We’ve Got Spirit!

NSM’s Business Office, Development Office and Dean’s Office teamed up to transform the Dean’s Office Suite into the perfect pre-game tailgate. The efforts were part of the UH Spirit Bell office decorating competition. Although NSM didn’t win, we appreciated the hard work put into the decorations and the festive office during homecoming week.
