The University of Houston Coastal Center is an environmental research and educational center located between Houston and Galveston about 14 miles northwest of the Gulf coast. It contains about 300 acres of threatened coastal tallgrass prairie. The Coastal Center provides an excellent setting for experiential and hands-on learning; the large outdoor setting provides a home for large-scale experiments and testing.
More than 500 bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree candidates crossed the stage during the University of Houston Commencement for the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics on May 13. The ceremony was held at UH’s Fertitta Center. Related Article
NSM Student Leadership and staff traveled to Austin as part of a large UH Day at the Capitol delegation. The group met with legislators and their staff. Thanks to all who participated in this effort to highlight UH’s programs and priorities.
NSMeet gave 130 high-caliber high school seniors accepted to NSM (and their families) the chance to learn about life as an NSM student, meet professors, visit student organizations and tour our facilities.
Guests enjoyed great food, fun, fellowship and wine at NSM’s Sixth Annual Red & White Wine Dinner. The event, held at Indika on February 11, gave guests the opportunity to explore modern takes on Indian cuisine.
Freshman and sophomore students were encouraged to learn more about research opportunities during NSM’s inaugural Lab Crawl. Twenty-two labs were open for our undergrads to tour. The prize for visiting six labs – an official Lab Crawl t-shirt!
