Mark Your Calendar for Three Events

Make plans to attend one, two or all three Culture & Science events in 2015!

Now in its second year, the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics’ Culture & Science events bring together NSM alumni, faculty, staff and friends. Each event examines how science applies to various cultural interests.

At our most recent event – A Night at the Museum: Making Science Come Alive! – more than 150 alumni and friends explored the Houston Museum of Natural Science at Sugar Land and participated in interactive demonstrations led by NSM researchers. Join NSM in 2015, as we investigate cultural interests of the arts, fine dining and theatre.

January 13 – An Evening with “Downton Abbey” – Sneak Peek

Donor Appreciation Event

In partnership with Houston Public Media, NSM donors are invited to a private reception, mini-lecture and viewing of “Downton Abbey” days before the public gets to see the episode! After the viewing, guests will be part of the studio audience for the post-show taping of “Manor of Speaking” with host Ernie Manouse.

February 12 – Red and White Wine Dinner

Beat the rush, and take your Valentine to NSM’s second annual Red and White Wine Dinner. This year, join NSM at Cuchara Restaurant for a night of sophistication, science and delicious Latin cuisine. Cuchara, located in Montrose, is number 43 on the Houston Chronicle’s list of Top 100 Restaurants.

Indulge in a spectacular five-course meal paired with five different wines from around the world.

Tickets: $100 per person (Seating Limited to 85 guests)

April 19 – An Evening at the Alley Theatre @ UH

Enjoy Arthur Miller’s play, “All My Sons,” which was inspired by the story of a successful businessman who sold the government defective airplane parts during World War II. The play takes place following the war, as the Keller family desperately hopes that their son Larry, who was missing in action three years earlier, will return home. A private reception and physics-inspired discussion of airplanes will take place before the play.
