Derek Rice (M.S. ‘09, Geology) was honored as the 2014 Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences Distinguished Alumnus at the 17th Annual Robert E. Sheriff Lecture in November.

Students

Azie Aziz (Ph.D. student, Geophysics) is helping locate unmarked burial sites in the historic Mueschke Cemetery. It is the burial site of several early Texans. The work was the subject of the GeoSpace blog of the American Geophysical Union. Aziz and her team used ground-penetrating radar to help locate the unmarked graves. She presented the project at a poster session during the American Geophysical Union’s Fall Meeting in San Francisco.
