Computer Science Career Fair

Twenty-eight companies participated in the Spring 2015 Computer Science Career Fair giving 250 students the opportunity to connect with potential employers. The event is organized each semester by CougarCS computer science club and the Department of Computer Science.

Alumni Reception in Barta Home

Carol and Randy Barta, pictured with NSM Student Ambassador Alexis Vick, hosted a reception in their home covering recent NSM research. The topic, “How to Mend a Broken Heart,” was delivered by mathematics professor Suncica “Sunny” Canic and covered her work to improve the treatment for dysfunctional heart valves. NSM alumni living in the Spring area were invited to the event.

Back-to-School Breakfast – Spring 2015

Dean Wells hosted a breakfast welcoming faculty and staff back for the start of the spring semester. The event included breakfast, door prizes and the roll-out of the Crossing the Finish Line Scholarship, which supports students who are near graduation and need financial support to complete their degree. Second Year and Growing – Red & White Wine Dinner

Wayne Luckett (‘74, Mathematics), owner of Branwar Wine Distributing, showcased world-class wines at NSM’s Second Annual Red and White Wine Dinner. The sell-out event took place at Chuchara Restaurant, number 43 on the Houston Chronicle’s Top 100 restaurants.

NSM Students Volunteer at Mars Rover Celebration

More than 150 NSM students volunteered as judges and tour guides at the 13th Annual Mars Rover Celebration held on campus in late January. The event encourages elementary and middle school students to pursue science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields. Read more

Mike McCardle (M.B.A. ‘78) and Judy Schulenburg (‘80, Geology) celebrated a pre-Valentine’s meal learning about wine and how to pair wines with food. Read more

Downton Abbey Sneak Peek

Recent donors to College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics were treated to a reception and advance viewing of a “Downton Abbey” episode. Afterwards, guests were part of the studio audience for the post-show taping of “Manor of Speaking” with host Ernie Manouse.
