Donor Appreciation Event – Bidding a Fond Farewell to “Downton Abbey”

In January, NSM and the University Libraries joined forces to celebrate our donors at a private reception at the Houston Public Media studios.

The party included an early viewing of the third episode of Downton Abbey’s final season followed by participation in the post-show taping of “Manor of Speaking” with host Ernie Manouse.

culture-science-3 Many of the 62 guests got into the spirit of the evening by dressing in their finest Roaring ’20s attire. The menu of cucumber and watercress sandwiches, beef Wellington, and English trifle dessert gave the evening a decidedly British feel. Before the viewing of the episode, UH professor Helen Valier gave a talk on health and technology of the 1920s.

Two attendees, Nanci Totah and Christian Kelleher, were featured on Manor of Speaking posing questions to the guest panelists.
